Rachel and Jeanise (they're a couple so let's give them a cheesy couple name: Rachise?) bundled themselves in a rainbow of warmth on a chilly day in Soho. Rachel's custom made backpack was created by @scooterlaforge

Ben Copperwheat designed the multi-colored masterpiece I spotted him wearing around the Garment District.

Funny story: Back at the office after meeting Ben, I excitedly told my pal/coworker about the man I had just photographed to illustrate and how inspiring his designs are. She stopped me right as I was sending her a link to his website: "Wait is his name Ben? He's my good friend!" Big city -- SMALL WORLD!

I encourage you to go stalk Ben's website to oogle the kaleidoscope of swag that is his art and designs:

Male model Adrian Hurtado looked like a 1970's rockstar wearing his street clothes after walking the Anna Sui Fashion Show. See more of him on instagram: @adrianhurtado

Paul Fears is SUCH A GOOD NAME! He should probably become a rapper (or any type of performer). I love the way he combined fruity florals with a chain. His neon backpack was see-through, revealing a Labyrinth DVD case (I say case because it was sans actual DVD). He knows how to accessorize! How much do you wanna bet toting mementos of recently deceased celebrities will become a trend? Soon every purse will hold a Prince CD or Princess Lea action figure!

New Yorker Jordan Baker-Caldwell celebrated the launch his new sculpture titled Ascension wearing gold sneakers and a top bedazzled with shiny studs. The necklace, which he rigged with speakers, is a trademark of his -- I have yet to see him without it! Visit Ascension in person at 36th St & 9th Ave in NYC and check out his website to see more awesome art:

This post comes two months after the AFROPUNK 2016 music festival in Brooklyn. Although I felt frustrated I didn't have time to complete these artworks faster, I am grateful that I am able to post these NOW in light of this depressing election. For those unaware of the festival's message take a look at the words that framed this year's stage:

This is what MY America stands for. I hope that comes through in these fashion illustrations of some of this year's fabulous attendees: Americans bursting full of love, creativity and acceptance for ALL.

I ended the the series with a self portrait of my eyeball themed garb from the fest. If interested in contacting any of these artistic individuals you can find them tagged in my instagram posts: @peacockstreet

This is Hayett McCarthy, a British model. I love the leg of mutton sleeves on her jacket. When I complimented it she replied proudly, "It was only 70 cents at a thrift shop France!"

This is Andrea wearing a dress she made from the fabric that was used to make Pillow People. Pillow People were pillow-dolls for kids popular in the 1980's:

This is my boss, American designer and fashion mogul, Anna Sui. She always wears her own designs into the office so it was hard picking which day to ask her for a photo! Like trying to choose which gummy worm flavor you want when every color is delicious. Speaking of colors Anna said, "But my outfit isn't very colorful today." True -- and Anna is known for her colors -- but when I saw this look I started itching to draw the lace detailing. I'm not the only fan:

I love that Adam paired jelly sandals with this crazy colorful tracksuit.

Judy is my co-worker who pretty frequently brightens my day by gifting me little Hello Kitty goodies. My favorite thing about her is that she looks really sweet but she has A SERIOUS EDGE (if you know her you are nodding vigorously whilst laughing right now). I love busy prints like this one she and kitty are wearing. The busier, the BETTER!

This is my friend Thomas. He is wearing a Comme des Garcons shirt. He is a poet and lover of beautiful things. Thomas always puts on a serious face for photos (in this case, paintings), but my favorite thing about him is how he lights up when he's talking about something he loves. We attended the NYC dance parade together and I had to literally run after him to keep up as he chased after the colorful, costumed dancers to get the best view.

Flat top on fleek! Jose looked so cool chilling on the train it had to be documented! First I did the whole I'm-pretending-to-take-a-selfie-but-BOOM-I-just-took-your-picture-and-now-you're-on-my-snap story move, then remembered my manners and just asked. Jose was extremely charismatic. He's like me, an artist passionate about too many things: dance, illustration, music... he dreams about living in Japan someday soon as a manga artist.

One of my favorite things about people watching is creating a story about whomever I'm viewing. Before engaging with Jose I imagined him heading home after an intense training session at the boxing gym, his sports bag housing boxing gloves and workout clothes.

I was way off! But being surprised by people is seriously the best.

It was hard not to spot Barbara, sporting bright light-up pink sneakers and an ultra kawaii ensemble. Okay... so she didn't ACTUALLY have a legion of stuffed animals bouncing around at her feet when I spotted her -- but she totally WOULD!

This shiny duo are band mates Jen Urban and Alan D of the glam rock/pop group Jen Urban and the Box. Their fabulous ensembles stood out from the mass of black rain coats filling the streets of Lower East Side on a drizzly night.

This is Mikhail Torich. His winged money Adidas sneakers by Jeremy Scott caught my eye right away.

When I saw he and his companion, Eric Ocasio, were both rocking poultry hats I had to approach. These guys aren’t just swaggy fashionistos, they produce music videos for a lot of big names out there – like Rupaul’s Drag Race Stars Sharon Needles and Manila Luzon! So psyched I got to meet these cool characters, even briefly.

Side note: Mikhail has a thick accent which I thought he was putting on to be quirky (now I know he’s actually from Russia – I stupidly told him I knew it was fake – OOPS) and Eric wouldn’t speak at all. I tried using sign language on him but he shook his head frantically (while smiling). Quirky dudes!

Here’s one of their music videos:
